Nick Nolte is the police detective head of a 4-man group called the Hat Squad (for their penchant of wearing hats with their suits).

At the end of the movie, Nolte and two men in his squad are at a cemetery. Each places their hat, as a tribute, on the casket of their dead comrade (Chazz Palmintieri).

When the camera cuts away to Nolte speaking to his wife at the cemetery--he is wearing his hat!

Did he change his mind about having his hat buried? Did he have a spare one on hand?
