Moulin Rouge - Head Shot
During the "Hindi Sad Diamonds" scene (The elaborate musical number from "Spectacular, Spectacular") Harry Ziegler is seated facing up-stage (for those of you not working in the theater, up-stage is the part of the stage furthest from the audience). In a close up shot he turns and looks over his shoulder at the Duke, and the camera cuts to a wide shot from above the audience, where we can see him facing foward again. Then the camera cuts back to the close up and he's facing the Duke again. Given the hyper active editing this whole movie uses, it's easy to miss.

I think you made a little slip up of your own. The character's name was Harry Ziedler not Zeigler.

Actually, the guy's name is spelled Zidler. (Watch the DVD with subtitles and pay attention to spelling.)

Actually, it's Zidler, Harold (or Harry) Zidler.

Actually, his name was Harold Zidler. (And he wasn't the real proprietor of the MR, it was owned by another man, and Zidler was the host. Naughty Baz Lurhman!)

His name is actually Harold Zidler, just so you know.

In defense of the original poster, if you don't have the DVD or haven't figured out how to work the captions on the TV, when I is pronounced the french way, it could easilly be heard as "Ziegler". Chill. Out.

When? Where? No he doesn't! And also ZIDLER (learn to spell it!!) is downstage not upstage. If ZIDLER was upstage it would mean ZIDLER is at the back and ZIDLER'S not, ZIDLER'S at the front.

Ok ignore my comment on the upstage/downstage thing. But, I have watched this part since and ok, so ZIDLER does look at the Duke, but then it is quite a long time until we se ZIDLER again, meaning ZIDLER could have turned his head round again.

Yes I've noticed this, it is accurate. I think we should let them off though....with an amazing dance scene like that going on, i doubt they wanted to film it over and over again just so his head was facing the correct way when they put it togethor.

This is true! It's very obvious if you're looking for it, but if you're not, then you're liable to be distracted by the dancing. Good eye!
