Due South - What Are You Wearing!
This, in my mind, is a major slip-up, whether it was done on purpose or not. The uniform he wears EVERY episode is not what the real RCMP officers wear while on duty. Most Canadians know that the "Reds" (the red uniform) is only worn on special occasions. The rest of the time typical uniforms are worn. Maybe this isn't a slip-up...maybe it was done on purpose but I don't watch the show, because it bothers me so much.

Benny just likes that uniform, they bring it up a couple of times during the show, but I see where you're coming from, being a proud Canadian I thought it was dumb that they always had him in dress uniform all the time too; until they explained it.

Seems to me that since he was not actually a officer of the law in the US (but rather assisting the Chicago PD in investigations) and was still attached to the Canadian Consulate he wore his dress uniform to identify that. Besides, that was part of the shows charm. I mean it wouldn't been as much fun if he wasn't such a weird personality.

it's absolutely true. the red uniform is ceremonial only. Canadian cops have to wear the blue uniform, even if they are out of jurisdiction
