Queen of the Damned (Anne Rice) - Teleporting
If you read Queen of the Damned you will get to the part where Akasha takes Lestat to the castle where he lived during his mortal days. She teaches him to fly and control things with his mind. She also teaches him to teleport. He can be in one room of the castle, all he has to do is wish himself in another room and his body should teleport.
Later on in the book the other Vampires lock Lestat up in a cell, where he is miserable and really wants to get out and basically goes insane. What I'm wondering is how could he have forgotten about his power of teleporting? I guess its obvious that Anne Rice didn't want the character out of the cell so she avoided that power, so was it just an accident that she had Lestat learn it or did she forget about it by the end of the book? It was very frustrating while reading that scene and knowing that Lestat could have escaped.

I am just flipping through the book, and you are a little mixed up. Akasha doesn't teach Lestat to teleport, she just teaches him to use the strength she gave him. If you have read the previous books, it is pointed out that the vampires in them can move much faster than mortals, with just as much ease. When Lestat drank from Akasha, he gained more strength, therefor giving him the ability to move faster. Lestat did not realize this, and so continued to use the strength he was used to using. So nearing the end, when he is in the room, or whatever they are keeping him in, he does not have the ability to actually get out of the room. Just thought I'd clear that up, ciao!

Anne Rice's vampires, when they are old enough, powerful enough, can *fly*, not teleport.

Actually, Lestat is just moving very, very fast. He cannot teleport he is just flying at a speed which no one can see.
