Friends - Unconnected Phone
In the show where Ross is trying to figure out if he wants to be with Rachel or his new girlfriend he met when he went to Japan, he makes a pro and con list of the two girls. When Rachel finds it, she doesn't want anything to do with Ross. He called in to a radio station to have them say on the air that he is very sorry. Then, he calls Monica to tell her to turn the radio on and what station and all that. When Rachel hears it, she goes and grabs the red phone next to her and turns it around to start to call. BUT the phone has no cord! How can she call someone and have it go through when the phone isn't plugged into the wall?? We know the call goes through, because she calls the radio station and tells them what Ross did, and they stop the song.

OK, a phone without a cord is called a cord-less phone. You don't have to have a cord to make a call because the phone goes into the cradle (I think that's it) when it's not in use, but it doesn't have to. That's what happened. Rachel had the phone out of the cradle, and she picked it up and called.

A cordless phone still has to have a base. The base has to have a cord attached to the wall. Most phones have not only a plug-in for the phone line, but an electrical cord for an answering machine, or whatever else extra stuff the phone has. I think that's what the original slip up was about, that the base wasn't plugged in.

Hi. This isn't about the cord and the phone, but just a little note about Julie! Julie is from New York, but Ross ran into her in CHINA not Japan. Just thought I'd let you know!
