13th Warrior - Did You Cut Your Sword or Not?
Ok, in the movie where they go to the small city to help the villagers, and they start to put the fence up to protect them from the Fire Snake, Antonio Banderas is given a sword to help them. He can't use the sword, because it is straight-edged and since he is arabian, he is used to a curved blade. He goes to the worker and he cuts his blade with a big curve in it. Then just a minute later he has it in his sheath, but the slipups is he just cut the sword, so it wouldn't go into a straight sheath.

If he cut the sword down from a straight sword to a curved sword, then the sword would have been smaller than the original but still fit in the sheath...think of a banana, if you took a bit out of it it would still fit back in the peel, it's the same concept with the sword.

Operative phrasing/action there is "cut the sword down". He didn't BEND the sword, he cut it down, so it would still fit in the original sheath. There'll just be a little extra room in the sheath is all.
