In the first episode of the actual pokemon league, when Mandy the astounding is doing tricks with pokeballs, and team rocket are pretending to be reporters, they see Mandy doing tricks then he makes a pokeball disappear. Then pidgey fly away. James says, "I like that guy's style." Meowth says he likes the pidgioto. The pokemon are clearly pidgey, not pidgioto.
