I went to a Mary Chapin Carpenter concert near my hometown. She had just finished filming a concert for PBS, and she was telling us about it. It was to air after her appearance in my town. Anyway, she said that in one of her songs there is a line that says "Spit and polish till it shines, he thinks he'll keep her." By accident, Ms. Carpenter said "SH*T and polish...." They did several re-takes afterwards, but somehow it always came out the wrong way, so they just decided to leave it.
