Star Wars Episode 4: A New Hope - Spoken Line Missing
After Vader and Tarkin destroy Alderaan, they appear together in a conference room. A messenger comes in to tell them that no rebel base was found on Dantoine. Tarkin says "She lied!" to which Vader replies "I told you she would never consciously betray the rebellion," after which he continues to shake his fist as though emphasizing another spoken line. However, there is no line, and Vader is left making odd hand gestures!

The reason for this is that Earl Ray Jones, the voice of Vader, was not the actor who played Vader. In fact, the actor (I forget the name) didn't know that his part was being voiced over while he was acting our the part. He only found out after the movie was finished.

The actor in the Darth Vader suit was David Prowse. He also played the bodybuilder in "Clockwork Orange". It was in the scenes after Alex's ex-buddies beat him up, and he seeks refuge at the same house where he commited the mayhem before.

There actually four actors who played Darth Vader. David Prowse was the guy inside the suit (who didn't know that his voice was being recorded over and didn't even know that darth vader was Luke's father until after the movie came out. He had said that someone else was his father.), James Earl Jones was Darth Vader's voice, and two other actors (one for the breathing and the other for something else that I cannot remember. It is 1am, cut me some slack...)

Well his respirator made a very very low breathing noise at that brief moment, maybe he was signaling to Tarkin that he couldn't breath. he he he

actually only three men play ol'Darth. James Earl Jones provided the voice, David Prowse was the Body actor, and there was a third actor who was in the suit for the face shots at the end of return of the jedi when Luke takes off the mask.

You can also catch DAVID PROWSE in the classic BBC TV series "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" (not the new bastardized film)... In the episode where they are in The Restaurant at the End of the Universe... he is HOT BLACK's Bodyguard... --Xo
