Well in You've Got Mail, Meg Ryan logged on to her computer, and then said there was no mail. But, if you look, there was a message showing that said, "New mail from someone!" Ha ha, bad or what?
I don't see any slip-ups with her logging in and getting mail. The only time I know that she does NOT get mail is after the night they meet at Cafe Lala and she thinks she's been stood up. When she goes home and logs on, there is no mail. It says "NO MAIL" in the middle of the screen, but no computer voice.
