When Anne breaks the slate over Gilbert's head the teacher makes Anne come up to the board and write out "Ann Shirley has a very bad temper!"

The S on Shirley is a normal S, but when Anne puts an e next to her name you can see that the S is a cursive S. It's unbelievable, but check it out, it's true!
