Center Stage - Ventriloquist Ballerina?
While Cooper and his ex-girlfriend are taking their bows after their ballet (NOT their "Romeo and Juliet one, the one where Cooper is dressed like a Jester) and the ex-girlfriend starts teasing him about Jodie, who is watching in the wings, you see her mumble "you are in big trouble", and then as they bow, you hear Cooper respond with "She's in my ballet..." But his mouth doesn't even open!! Cooper Neilson or Sheri Lewis??

if you watch really carefully, you'll see that their lips are slightly moving...they're talking like that so Jodi can't hear them...but we can...it's just their way of talking while bowing...no slip up....

They are not supposed to be talking while taking their bows. I'm sure he was trying to not make it seems as though he was still talking while on stage!

Actually, we talk like that onstage all the time. If you watch really closely, you'll notice that their lips move, ever-so-slightly, and the B's and M's aren't pronounced well. They have to keep their smiles plastered on their faces, so that's why they do that. My partner always asks me what the next step is when we dance...It's funny.

I agree-his mouth does move, but just slightly. I just watched the movie again to make sure.

Kathleen Donahue's mouth is open, and she is talking but her teeth are together so no one can tell she is saying anything, but I do agree that Cooper's mouth isn't even open enough to mumble "she's in my ballet". I just finished watching the movie.

If you watch closely, they do move their mouths slightly. Cooper looks like he's not talking but that's because he is doing it out of the corner of his mouth.

This is on purpose. Kathleen and Cooper are on stage acting, I don't think they want an entire opera house knowing they are talking on stage! I dance and your not supposed to talk while performing, and most CERTAINLY not in a ballet company. I doubt you would want to be on stage in front of possibly thousands and let them know that you are talking while dancing.
