Sound of Music - The Suitcase is carried in by the childeren
So the children are singing "Favorite Things", trying to feel better after Maria has returned to the abbey. Then she comes back and sings with them, carrying a suitcase. She puts her suitcase down to hug and greet everyone, then the children all go inside. She speaks to Capt. Von Trapp about the engagement to the Baroness, and goes inside, but NEVER GETS HER SUITCASE!

Here is what happens. When the children are singing and they hear Maria in the background and run up to her, the two boys grab her suitcase and guitar and carry them for her. You can actually see them holding them.

Clearly you just watched the movie one time. But if you were paying attention to the children you will see that the two boys carried it all the way to the house.

Perhaps they sent the maid or butler out to get it later. They were hired to do things like that.
