When Dirk and his friends drive to the house of the guy they plan on selling the fake drugs to (Sister Christian Scene). If you quickly look at the hood of his Corvette when he gets out and goes back to the car, you will see it's all bent up. They never explain this in the movie. But, if you watch the deleted scenes, in the last one, he wrecks his Corvette, which explains why the hood is bent.
