This movie one of my all time favorite movies so here we go. In this scene it IS NOT a slip up. What is going on is when she is reading the note it goes back to him WRITING the note. Which, in fact means it is just another scene in the movie. He has already given her the notebook. She starts reading the letter (with the notebook in plain view) and the scene MAGICALLY, (as some of you say), cuts to him still having the alleged notebook. It is not a slip up, a flub, a glitch, or anything to the matter. She is reading the note that he has attached to the notebook right? What it is doing is showing when he wrote the letter and explaining the whole entire thing.

Firefly, I'm not saying your wrong but I've seen this movie several times and have never seen Sebastian ripping out pages. I seem to remember him wrapping the whole diary for Annette.

bad point on that scene only because they are flipping back and forth between when he's walking to her house, and then afterwards. Also when she's reading his letter, look at the last two lines. They read "Please give me another chance I'm a f***ing wreck without you", in the movie he says the same only he drops the F word. If they write it out, then why not say it.

If you notice, while she's reading the letter, and he's reading it out loud, they cut to him sitting on those steps thinking what to write. They cut back to her then back to him writing the letter. They cut back to her again then back to him walking along the fountain holding his journal and the tablet of paper. Then when they cut back to her, they move the camera a bit revealing that he's standing outside the building watching her read his letter. This is a common thing to do in a montage. They go back and forth between the present and the past. There is no slip-up here.

No, I just watched that movie two seconds ago and thought the same thing. However, if you really look, you see he's carrying some other different random books. Even still, I don't remember him having the books when he went to see Annette.
