Casper - Optional Transparency?

I'm not sure if it's a slip-up, but it's confusing. In the scene where Casper wants to touch Wendy, their hands go through each other. Yet, he is able to grab her hand and drag her to the secret laboratory. Also, through out the movie, he holds objects.
