Steel Magnolias - Easter Eggs
Right after the ladies have their hair done for the wedding, Ms. Ouiser (Shirley McClaine)arrives with her dog complaining about the noise of the reception preparations. Shelby's dad fires a gun down the street to scare the birds, startles the dog and causes Ouiser to slam the trunk of the car where Truvy was loading dozens of Easter eggs for a church hunt. When the trunk is raised, the eggs are all broken. You don't color and decorate raw eggs...you hard boil them first. Hard boiled eggs don't break.

Okay, I'm pretty sure they are hard boiled eggs, and they do break! Who said they didn't. They don't break as easy, but if you were to slam bags and your hands down that hard on eggs on top of eggs, they'd break. And they do still have the yoke, so maybe that's why you thought they weren't boiled...

The thing I noticed more in this scene than the fact that the eggs broke when the trunk lid slammed shut, was the changing of the colors of the eggs when they were holding them and talking before even putting them in the trunk...completely different with each change of scene! That is what I noticed more. Hard boiled eggs do break. Maybe not to that extreme, but they do break. This movie has so many mistakes, but is still a great movie. It happens to contain my favorite movie quote of all time. "I'd rather have 30 minutes of wonderful than a whole lifetime of nothing special."
