Exorcist, The - Reappearing Cigarette
During the scene where Reagan's Mother meets the priest (Damian) for the first time. She asks him for a cigarette. Then they begin to walk, after a minute or so she finishes the cigarette, throws it down and even does a twisting motion as to be smothering it out. In the very next scene "a close up shot of the two" she is waving her hand about, and in between her fingers is the cigarette, which she throws down again.

It was too quick for her to have lit another one, plus there was no noise of a match being struck or a lighter lighting. This is definitely a goof.

I completely agree with LBabe... The point of the scene was to show the mother becoming more and more frustrated. If you notice, in the beginning of the movie she smoked far less than in later scenes. It's a brilliant transference by Blakely, not a slip up.

No I disagree, I belive that it is a genuine slip-up. If she were merely lighting a new ciggarette wouldn't she have had to ask the priest for another one?

Ever thought about the possibility of her lighting up another one?
