As everyone is walking through the haunted forest carrying a 'weapon'. Right after they start talking about 'spooks' the scene changes a bit and suddenly the lion and scarecrow weapons are gone!
I was reading through the Wizard Of Oz Script (and no, I'm not just saying this to sound credible), and the script was the final draft, the one used to shoot the movie. Now, although the movie was edited several times after it's sneak previews, all of the undeleted scenes are still, of course, in the script. Anyway, to get to the point, right before the Jitterbug scene, the Witch's 'spooks' make all of the weapons disappear. Whew. Hope that helped.
