Under Seige 2, Dark Territory - Military Demotion?
At the end of this movie, Steven visits a graveyard and he is in a Navy uniform. But it is the uniform of a Lieutenant. In the first movie we found out he was a Navy Seal and a Chief Petty Officer. No Chief Petty Officer I have ever met would swap into the officer ranks. Too much of a dishonor for them.

Unfortunately, I can't get to my tapes at the moment, but I do clearly recall mention of Ryback losing his rank. As Krill is telling Straneck about Ryback's history, he mentions that Ryback was busted from CWO to a far lower rank...ensign, I believe, which is why he could only be a cook. As for the uniform, I'd have to re-watch the movie, but I believe you're essentially right: sharp dress-whites are officer uniforms, and I don't know if an ensign is entitled. I'll re-check my military manuals and see.
