Meg Ryan, when spelling the name of the "Shoe Books" author spells S-t-r-e-a-t-f-e-i-l-d! Look up this guy on the net and his name is not spelled the way she spelled it!
I JUST watched You've got mail and wrote down this guys name exactly how she spelled it and then looked it up on amazon.com. She spelled it correctly! Streatfeild!!!

Look before you leap, people! I don't know where Burak did his/her research, but, as some of these commenters have said, Streatfeild is the correct author, and, yes, she is female. If you don't know for certain, don't judge the movie harshly.

And Meg's character is supposed to be an expert on children's books, right? I mean, she owned her own store for however many years. Therefore, she would be in charge of what they order, and she should KNOW how to spell the author's name. Even more so since she LOVED the Shoe Books so much! It IS a big deal!

Anybody notice that she happened to be under emotional duress at the time? She'd lost her store and was examining the remarkable, splashy children's section in the store of the guy who ran her out of business. It's possible that her mind wasn't entirely on spelling.

She SHOULD have spelled it correctly. She is supposed to be the sympathetic character & the authority on children's books. This takes credibility away from her character. She should know the correct spelling. This IS a big blunder.
