Scream - Walking Away from Window When Room Is Upstairs
In the scene where Billy is talking to Sidney and she says how about a PG-13 relationship, after he sees it he starts to walk away from her window while outside....doesn't she have an upstairs room, because the scene where she is running away from the killer she runs upstairs to her room. Why would he be walking away instead of climbing a tree? Could it be she has a deck or balcony? Not likely though.

Just to let you know. Yes Sidney's bedroom is on the second story of the house but we later learn, while she is on the phone with Tatum making plans to spend the night, that outside of the window is a deck. Billy could easily have stepped out of the window onto the deck, and then walked down the steps and left. So technically that isn't a mess up.

Ok, well a deck would make sense, but as Billy is walking away, you can clearly hear that he is walking through grass or leaves or something. It is not the sound it would make if he were walking on a deck.

I always just assumes that Billy had climbed up a tree or something to that effect and then walked on the roof to her window. Possibly when he is walking away from the window, he is again walking on the roof only this time on his way to the tree, not away from it. I don't know though, it's always just what I assumed.

When i read the comment, i realized that i made a mistake and wrote Casey instead of Tatum...obviously, Sidney never spoke with Casey in the film...may bad, but yes...the third posting restates what i said...the outside of Sid's room is a deck, so there is no mess up here.

For future reference, when Billy steps out of the window, you hear a noise like something someone steps on a deck. So, Sid does have a balcony.

I noticed this too. Also when we first see Billy he is clearly climbing up something to get in the window as he is hanging onto the window frame etc. Why would he do this if Sidney has a deck?

As much as you would all like to think that it's a deck.... it's actually the roof that he steps on!!!!.. You can clearly see that it is black and has no railings. If it was a deck on the second floor, wouldn't you put railings on it????

Most houses do have the roof area next to the window where the room is an upstairs room. So, in reality, a person can climb out the window and then walk right out on the roof. If you look at the scene a few scenes later, when Sidney is talking on the phone to Casey while outside, you can probably get a good idea of the house set up to determine that this is indeed the truth.

He does walk out of the window very easily. But When Sidney is walking into her house after school you can clearly see she has decks all around her house so he probably walked onto it.

Yes, this is apparently a slip-up! I noticed it too. The other times he went IN the window, he grabs in the ledge like he is hanging. When he left then, he just simply walked away, And she did go up the stairs when she was attacked. And when you see the view of the house, there are no hills or anything up against the house.
