Clerks - The Reappearing Soda
This is in the episode where Dante and Randal are being sued after Jay slips and falls in the Quick Mart. Early in the show Dante and Randal are cleaning up the store and Randal throws his orange soda into the plastic garbage bag that Dante is holding. The very next shot, however, shows that even though the soda can missed the bag and fell on the floor, Randal is holding another can which apparently appeared out of nowhere.

from what I understand, this is not a slip up, but a deliberate joke. if you watch for it, all of Kevin Smiths stuff (movies and cartoons alike) are full of little inside jokes from other movies he's done and stuff... a friend of mine was telling me something that an animator said about how animating is a really boring job, so sometimes the animators just randomly make characters holding pop cans and stuff. I'm not sure, however, if it was Kevin Smith who said this, or one of the animators on the show, or a character in one of the movies (maybe a comic illustrator?). maybe someone out there can clarify?

did you ever stop to think, maybe he picked up another can? ... and then he said "can you pass the catsup"...

In the "Clerks Uncensored" DVD commentary track, Kevin Smith, Scott Mosier and company infer that it was intentional but that they were unaware of it until it first aired. A guy from the Korean company that did the animation (animator Han, they called him) put it in. Apparently, Animator Han was quite disliked by the View Askew people (Smith et. al.).
