I believe when they go to get their "tree mail" in the mail is a boomerang so they can practice throwing it before they get to the challenge

Maybe one of the idiots bought it as a souvenir when they first got to Australia.

They often receive items to practice with, when they get their TreeMail. So, I guess they got a boomerange(sp) to practice with before the challange.

In that episode, the host goes "the boomerang is the most popular weapon in Australia". Yeah, back heaps of years ago maybe, but how many Australian people do you see walking down the street today with a boomerang?? Seriously, some people are so stereotypical of my country.

Souvenir? Do you not understand the idea behind the show? As for boomerangs being the most famous weapon in Australia, it is a traditional weapon of the Aborigines. I think that it would be like having an archery contest in the US or UK. They are in the Outback, and a boomerang throwing contest is definitely appropriate. I'm sure that the editing explains this "slipup". To try to keep the "soap opera" going, they often show clips out of chronological order. So, that scene was obviously shot after the challenge, but shown before.
