Lion King, The - They Just Dropped in for a Visit
Gophers (like the one that shows up with a "message from the underground" for Mufasa) and giant ant-eaters (seen in the pyramid during the "Can't Wait to be King" number) are not native to Africa. It should be noted that Disney prided itself on the wildlife research that went into the production of the movie to make it as realistic as possible, so excusing it as a "cartoon" doesn't work in this case.

What's fun about putting in an ant-eater for a very brief shot in an animal pyramid? Again, you had to watch all the hype and promo at the time, but Disney was very proud of boasting LK1 was as "realistic" as possible, the animators studied real lions to get the portrayals down, etc., etc.

It's true. If you're going to do something, do it properly. Even if it is a cartoon.

The anteater was put in there because I think it was the director or the drawer one of them their Favorite animal is the anteater. this is why you see it in the film.

Yeah- of course these animals aren't native to Africa, but you didn't even realize the whole thing that the movie was based on didn't even make sense! In real life, would you ever see all of the animals join together? No! the lions would go attack the other animals. You called attention to one slip up- but you missed the most obvious one in the movie.

I actually live in Africa and I'd like to tell you that: 1. Thats not a gopher, it's an African Mole 2. You do find Giant Ant-Eaters in Africa. So your Slip up is actually not a slip-up. :P

I'm also from Africa, and I can assure you that you in fact do not get giant anteaters here. You do get Aardvarks, which are similar-looking but unrelated.
