As Good as it Gets - Is That Jack Nicholson?!
Go to the near beginning of the movie where Melvin,(Jack), is on his way to the restaurant.
He is being careful to walk between the cracks on the sidewalk, but watch closely in the background.
As he is walking round the corner, there are about 20 New Yorkers just standing in the background trying to get a glimpse of the great man 'doing his thing'. This is ridiculous! When filming in New York, the city are pretty cool about a movie being made. These guys MUST be tourists!! But the camera crew really should've noticed this and cleared them out the way!

Those people likely aren't just 'New Yorkers'. Movies are all filmed with paid 'extras' in the background and 'common folk' are shooed out of the way by locations people. Anyone you see in the background of any movie (with the exception of really low budget, independant, films) is paid to be there and given directions by a third assistant director.

Are you sure these aren't just people watching his character walking funny. You know, people see something weird and HAVE to stop. However, in NYC, people don't usually stop for something weird since weird stuff happens all the time there.

Erik, you just answered your own question!!You said, someone sees something weird & has to stop, then you went back on yourself & said that no-one notices anything that weird in New York!!!!Anyway, 1 or 2 people might stop & look, but not about 30 at the same time!! Go watch that bit of the movie, you'll see what i mean.
