What Lies Beneath - The 911 Call
At the ending of the movie when Michele Pfeiffer wants Harrison Ford to call the cops. He dial 411, instead of dialing 911. If he really dialed 411 and started talking to the operator as if he wanted the cops to come, don't you think the operator would have wondered what was going on. Michele Pfeiffer redialed the number because it showed up on the phone as 411. Strange?

Actually, in many states, if you call 411, one of those moronic computer voices designed to make things more "efficient" greets you. "Please say the county after the tone." So, Harrison could have said whatever he wanted and it would have gone unrecognized by the computer. How do we know, also, that he didn't just hit the off buttong (hang it up) on the phone a second after he called it? All it takes is a hit of the thumb, something that most humans with half a brain could do.

Okay. First off, he didn't turn it off because you can hear a button beep if you turn it off. She would have heard it. Also, about a computer, when she redialed it there was an operator saying "Hello......hello....is anybody there?"

For the re-dialed call, a human came on. The same human would have said: I'll connect you to the police" or whatever, had they heard Ford's earlier call. If he switched it off before speaking, Pfeiffer would have heard beeps. In fact, she should have heard the Info operator when ford called, as loud as it was the second time.

Doesn't dialing 411 mean information in a lot of states? If so, wouldn't the person on the other end be a bit suspicious if they heard what was being said by Harrison Ford?

Did you even see the movie? Of course he didn't dial 911, he didn't want the cops to go there, and probably the operator thought it was something weird but no big deal, how many jokers are out there?
