If The Matrix was filmed in Canada or another Commonwealth country, the "s" in "authorised" might make perfect sense, because that's the way many Commonwealth countries spell it. (Many films nowadays are filmed in Canada to take advantage of lower production costs.) If the *setting* of The Matrix is supposed to take place in the U.S., regardless of where the movie was filmed, then the sign definitely should have been changed to reflect U.S. spelling conventions. If the slip-up was about the word "personell," then that is a definite slip-up, as the correct spelling is "personnel."

The Matrix was filmed in Sydney, Australia. And like other British commonwealth countries they use British spelling not American so 'authorised personell' is the right spelling for Australia but not for anywhere in America. This isn't really a slip up.

I'm sorry to have to point this out. But the movie was mainly made here in Australia. That is the correct way to spell those words in Australia, because we use the English (British) dictionary.

Yes, the film was shot in AU, but the story was based in the US, New York wasn't it? I think this should be considered a slip-up

nowhere in the movie did it say that this was taking place in the U.S. It never mentioned where they were...only that it was 1999...

The film was supposed to be set in Chicago. In various scenes, especially when characters are phoning Tank to ask for ways out, he mentions several intersections in downtown Chicago.

Well, I think they should have done something about that. Seeing as though they knew that the film was supposed to be based in the USA, they should have made a new sign with the American spelling on it to use for the movie.
